Tucson
The consistently mild winter climate began attracting European, Midwestern, and Eastern tourists to Tucson in 1891. In 1922 the Tucson Sunshine-Climate Club put advertisements in major magazines, using phrases like “Children of the Sun” and “The Old Pueblo”, and it wasn’t long before the wealthy, the bohemia, the artist, and the sun worshipper discovered that Tucson’s winter weather is finer than in any other part of the world. Tucson is surrounded by lush mountain ranges, green canyons, and the awe-inspiring beauty of the Sonoran Desert where the Yaqui has a rich heritage.
